Music Producer Becomes Guest Professor
2024-05-03Jenny Wilson is an internationally known Swedish indie musician, artist, and not least, producer. Her music is electro-influenced and energetic, and her lyrics are confrontational, often critical of society. At the same time, she does not shy away from being very vulnerable and personal, which is a significant part of her expression. The Ingesund School of Music and the subject of music production are pleased to welcome her as Guest rofessor in music production, focusing on songwriting under the wings of the Wettergren Foundation.
In the autumn of 2018, the college programme for music production on an artistic basis was established. In the autumn of 2022, the Music production programme expanded to a bachelor鈥檚 program. Ingesund School of Music has for many years received funds from the Wettergren Foundation that has significantly contributed to the development that has taken place over more than a decade.
鈥淲e now see an opportunity to continue the development of the subject by appointing an Guest Professor, says G枚ran Lindskog, head of the department for artistic studies at 果冻传媒. 鈥淢usic production is a growing job market, where education at a high academic level becomes increasingly important. It鈥檚 also a young subject that gets extra luster from an Guest Professor with funds from the Wettergren Foundation. We are very happy to welcome Jenny Wilson.鈥
Incredible Breadth and Great Asset
Over the years, Jenny Wilson has been awarded several Grammys and a number of other prizes. She has collaborated with artists such as Robyn, The Knife, and El Perro Del Mar. She has also directed short films and videos. She has been a summer host on P1, and in 2023, she was inducted into the Swedish Music Hall of Fame.
鈥淚鈥檓 very excited, says David Engstr枚m, programe leader for the Music production programme. I believe Jenny will help our students find their artistic expression and musical voice. Jenny has incredible breadth and will be a great asset for us, and not just for the music production program. It will be noticeable throughout Ingesund School of Music that Jenny is in the house, both internally and externally.鈥
Ingesund School of Music strives to strengthen its operations by taking impressions and help from artistic role models to continually develop and raise the level of the school鈥檚 courses and programmes. And this time with a focus on music production.
鈥淕etting to partake in others鈥 idea worlds, artistic visions, and thoughts about creation is one of the most luxurious things I can imagine, says Jenny Wilson. I鈥檓 really looking forward to starting my work as a Guest Professor on the Music production programme.鈥
The Berit and Carl-Johan Wettergren Foundation donates funds to charitable purposes, mainly within the forest industry, medicine, research, and education. The foundation鈥檚 current focus is scientific research and education with a priority on culture.
A Guest Professor can be recruited for research, development, and educational work when expertise from outside the university is valuable and is preferably financed with external funds. The current person should have scientific and pedagogical skills at the professorial level. However, it is in the nature of the employment form that the competence area can be more limited. Outstanding contributions within, for example, engineering or artistic activity can partially replace the requirement for traditionally documented scientific or artistic skill.
The professorship and Jenny Wilson will be acknowledged and welcomed into the faculty during Academic Celebration at 果冻传媒 on October 18.
