Words from senior management: From vision to reality
2023-11-22Our physical environment – the way it looks and functions both inside and outside – matters a lot for the university to attract students and employees.
The document Campusplan 2040 points out the long-term direction for the university’s physical environment. The plan has been created as a collaboration project between the university and Akademiska hus. We are now taking the next step to transform our vision into concrete activities.
A project group has been appointed with representatives from both the university and Akademiska hus. Several of the activities included in the plan relate to the surroundings and infrastructure. Therefore, we are also in contact with the municipality and the region, in order to find solutions for the development of the area together. In line with this, we invited all parties to a meeting on 14 November.
It was a good meeting and we had the opportunity to talk about several common areas of interest as well as collaboration related to ongoing planning projects. A few examples are initiatives that concern bus and train connections to Välsviken, service providers on campus and in Kronoparken, cycle paths and development in the immediate area, as well as safety issues. The meeting resulted in a better understanding of how our various decisions and considerations affect the operations of the involved parties. This was the first meeting of its kind and will now become an annual event.
The campus plan also includes exciting ideas to link our two campuses. How about a digital “fika” space between campus ý and campus Arvika? Imagine being able to share a fika with a colleague at the other campus – or for students to hang out with friends regardless if they are based in ý or Arvika!
We are now looking forward to watching Campusplan 2040 gradually turning from vision to reality!
